Borealis announced today that it aims to continue expanding its production capacity for recycled products, reaching 1.8 million tons per year by 2030, up from 100,000 tons per year today. Borealis previously committed to producing 600,000 tonnes of recycled products (recycled plastics) annually by 2025.
The company recently announced the spin-off of its fertilizer business, while also claiming to reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by more than 50% by 2030, based on 2019 emissions. Meanwhile, Borealis announced that by 2030 all of its electricity will come from green energy.
Borouge is a joint venture company established by Borealis and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. It is mainly responsible for the business in parts of Asia and Africa. The production of its polymers (PP and PE) is mainly concentrated in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Domestic and Jinhui Recycling and Tianqiang Environmental Protection have established a cooperative relationship in the field of plastic recycling.
